Heartbreak

I lie on the floor, and
Wish death would take me,
Drowning in memories, to
Explain why you hate me.

My heart pounds intensely, a
Deafening beat,
Lost is my will, to
Move, sleep, or eat.

My chest aches with longing,
Confusion and fear,
Desperately praying,
Well aware none will hear.

Begging to silence,
Having done nothing wrong,
Screaming for answers,
Never having felt strong.

Struggling to breathe, in a
Flood of surrender, I
Falsely confess, to be the
Only offender.

Any fault was my own,
Rings loud in my ears,
Not bearing the thought, you
Demanded these tears.

My mind could not fathom,
Life lacking your bearing,
Condemned to existence, to a
Life of uncaring.

My body grows frail, without
Strength and support, but a
Thought comes to mind,
That I often distort.

Perhaps on a pedestal,
You had always resided,
In light of abandon,
My love was misguided.

My naivety veiled
Red flags into rose,
Before my eyes, our acquaintance,
Has since decomposed.

My remembrance putrefies,
Toxins of deceit,
As though offered a hand, while
Thrown onto the street.

This epiphany rises,
Triggers me to my core,
Overwhelmed and unable, to
Take life anymore.

I gather my thoughts,
With my heart in my throat, and
Say my goodbyes in a heartbreaking note.

A ring of the phone,
Distracts from my schemes,
Thus my grip tightened, on the
Tears in my seams.

A friend seeking solace,
Begs, too, for demise, I
Return from the edge,
Masked in hopeful disguise.

Consolation from me, as
Sincere as my pain,
"To bask in the sunshine,
There must also be rain."

When yearning for love,
Either lost or destroyed, a
Balance is made,
Counting times you enjoyed.

Though heartbreak and anguish, are
No small occurrence, you
Must still fight for sunshine, and
Accept no deterrence.

To reflect upon wisdom,
Unknowingly mine,
Dries all my tears,
Assuring I'm fine.

My eyes gently close, to
Imagine a future,
Relax, and escape from
Irrational stupor.

Blinded we are, to
Our strength, our resilience,
Acknowledge for once,
Your, and my, sheer damn brilliance.

Never give up,
Nor relinquish your power,
Stand tall in your weakness, for
Demons will cower.

Insignificant joys,
Can give all life meaning,
Count each thing you care for,
When loved ones are leaving.

Isolation is poison, to
Feel no one is there, but
Reach out of the dark,
Those who matter will care.

Burned now, are all notes,
Planned to live on for me,
My future is mine,
I am finally free.
